Active Investor Plus Visa

Effective date from 1 April 2025
In February 2025, Immigration New Zealand announced changed to the Active Investor Plus Visa that allows you to get permanent residence in New Zealand

From April 1 2025, changes to the Active Investor Plus Visa include the following:

– English language requirements will be removed
– There are two new categories, Growth & Balanced category
– Minimum investment amount is NZ$ 5million
– Minimum stay of 21 days

 

From 1 April 2025 there will be two acceptable investments categories.

1. Growth Category

Managed Funds
Direct Investments

Key Features:

Minimum investment amount:
NZ$5 million

Acceptable investment:
Managed funds, Direct investment

Time to transfer and invest:
6 months from the date of Approval in Principle, with the option to apply for a 6 month extension

Additional conditions:
1. Retain investment for 36 months
2. Spend a minimum of 21 days in New Zealand over the investment period

Investment retention checkpoints:
24 months & 36 months

2. Balanced Category

Listed equities
Philanthropy
Property development
Bonds

Key Features:

Minimum investment amount:
NZ$10million

Acceptable investment:
Listed equities, Philanthropy, Property development, Bonds

Time to transfer and invest:
6 months from the date of Approval in Principle, with the option to apply for a 6 month extension

Additional conditions:
1. Retain investment for 60 months
2. Spend a minimum of 105 days in New Zealand over the investment period, unless eligible for a reduction as a result of placing funds above the minimum threshold into direct investments or managed funds.

Investment retention checkpoints:
24 months & 60 months
